Union meetings

A union meeting is a meeting where all members are encouraged to participate to discuss matters concerning the union, its activities and how it can best serve all members.

Before union meetings, all members may submit any items for the agenda.

The union meeting is held by the board and all minutes from each union meeting become public documents.

How does a union meeting work?

The union holds four regular union meetings per year.

There are three types of union meetings: General union meeting, union meeting and special union meeting.

The general union meeting is a union meeting held during the months of May and December. During general union meetings, elections are held for positions whose term of office begins before the next union meeting.
During the December general body meeting, assignments are elected with a term of office starting in January, and during the general body meeting in May, assignments are decided with a term of office starting in June.

Union meetings are held during the months of October and March. During union meetings, elections are held for positions that have not yet been filled. During the October union meeting, elections are held for positions that belong to the board or AFK, positions that remain vacant can also be applied for during the December union meeting.

An extraordinary union meeting is held when requested by the board, the auditors or at least 25 of the union's voting members. During extraordinary union meetings, elections for current positions are held.

Proposals and motions

Motions are proposals from the board. Motions must be available to union members four weekdays before the general union meeting and union meeting or two weekdays before an extra union meeting.

The motion must be submitted in writing to the board no later than ten weekdays before a general union meeting or union meeting or no later than three weekdays before an extraordinary union meeting. Motions must be submitted to union members no later than four weekdays before a general union meeting or union meeting. Motions to be discussed during an extraordinary union meeting must be submitted to members no later than two weekdays before an extraordinary union meeting.
