When a first impression can mean everything
The work of the junior committee lays the foundation for the welcome that all new students on the Alnarp campus receive.
The kick-off at Alnarp is called "little ones week" for the simple reason that it is for "little ones", that is, newly admitted students.
During and before the toddler weeks, the generals in the toddler committee are busy arranging activities, point hunts, games, lectures and being responsible for sponsors.
As a member of the committee, SLU has entrusted me with planning the kick-off to give all new students the best possible first impression of the campus, the programs, and the student union.
With the help of the sponsors
Being responsible for several hundred new students would have been completely impossible without the help of the sponsors.
The sponsors do not hold a position on the committee but are volunteers from the corps who help with anything the generals need help with.
It can be anything from directing activities, cooking lunches or just making sure all the little ones are doing well.
They are also the ones who get to know the little ones first, become their rock, answer their questions, and give them a sense of security during their first weeks on campus.
All sponsors have signed an agreement developed by the toddler committee in which they approve the demands placed on them during the toddler weeks.
The most important thing in the agreement is the peace agreement, which states that NO sponsor is allowed to enter into a relationship with a new student during the weeks.
This is so that all new students feel safe and secure during their first time.
In the role of general
The Småtting Committee consists of 7 positions, all of which have the collective name "generals".
Within the small committee, all generals are responsible for both joint and individual missions.
The work as a general continues throughout the spring, planning the small weeks down to the smallest detail. The generals have the opportunity to shape the kick-off pretty much however they want.
As a general, you are the face of SLU and the student union. The generals are at the center of all new students and act as both leaders and guides in what is for many a big new chapter in their lives.
Traditionally, the generals are masked throughout the whole of the week to stay in character as generals. This is to try to distinguish the general as a person and character for the new students, and to add a bit of mystery to the kick-off.

The main task of the sponsor general is to coordinate all sponsors. This may involve communicating overall information with the sponsors, organizing a kickoff for the sponsors in the spring, and creating a work schedule for the toddler weeks. During the toddler weeks, the sponsor general ensures that the main sponsors establish contact with their respective programs.
Contact General

The main task of the Liaison General is to be responsible for all communication with other
actors both within and outside the union, with the exception of communication concerning finances and
social media.
Information General

The main task of the Information General is to be the spokesperson for the Little Children's Committee during the Little Children's Weeks. It handles the administrative aspects of the current activity plan,
activity report, and agendas. The Information General has the overall
responsibility for crisis management before and during the toddler weeks.
Activity General

The main task of the Activities General is to be responsible for the activities. All activities are planned in consultation with the rest of the committee and any main sponsors. The Activities General
is responsible during the toddler weeks for delegating tasks regarding the activities and leading them.
Money General

The money manager's job is to keep track of the budget. This means compiling purchases, collecting receipts, contacting sponsors, and making sure the budget is sufficient. The money manager should also know what needs to be purchased and has the main responsibility for the purchasing.
Kitchen General

Social General

The social general's main task is to be responsible for social media and reach out to the little ones with information, as well as writing and designing the welcome letter/brochure. The social general is also primarily responsible for the points hunt.
